About Us
Leadership Education at Duke Divinity, founded in January 2008, cultivates thriving communities that are signs, foretastes and instruments of the reign of God. We design and deliver local, regional, national and international educational offerings that develop three interrelated capacities:
- Traditioned innovation, rooted in the story of the Trinity, that invigorates the present and envisions the future by honoring the church’s past.
- Transformative leadership, responsive to God through the development of virtues and practices, that equips people to advance the church’s mission.
- Vibrant institutions, led by hopeful and imaginative people, that act as bearers of tradition, incubators of leadership and laboratories of learning.
Leadership Education at Duke Divinity brings together in one initiative the school’s non-degree programs and scholarship on leadership development, pastoral excellence, clergy health, rural ministry, Hispanic ministry, youth formation, reconciliation and end-of-life care. Our work builds on the strengths of the Divinity School and engages multiple disciplines, from business to the arts. Our offerings include our online magazine, Faith & Leadership, and its companion blog, Call & Response; open-application programs; and custom educational experiences.
Leadership Education aims to work in partnership with Christian leaders throughout the church, from laity and congregational clergy to those who lead the organizations that shape and support them and their congregations. Those institutions include judicatories, seminaries, non-profits and educational enterprises.
Support is provided by a major grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., as well as other donors, including The Duke Endowment. To learn more, please visit People & News or contact us.
